I’d always heard the saying, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” but I never really understood that expression until I had diamonds of my own. It was my 16th birthday, which as birthdays go, is a pretty important one. Most girls dream of getting a new car for that monumental birthday, but not me. I was content driving my mom’s old Cadillac. What I really desired for my birthday was a pair of diamond stud earrings.
